喜達屋集團在今年上半年的時候,有推出 Double-take 的促銷活動,只要在 7/31 之前入駐旗下飯店,通通給雙倍的 starpoints ,如果透過手機的 App 訂房,還額外再給 500 starpoints 。所以我就趁著這個機會,下訂了福朋喜來登的一晚住宿,試試看喜達屋在台灣最「平價」的飯店。
因為行程安排的關係,我大約在傍晚六七點才抵達飯店。一踏進大門的第一印象還不差。門口隨時都有工作人員幫忙開門,並且熱情地向所有客人問好。可惜後來的入住手續,可能是因為處理的人員經驗還不太足夠,花了比較久的時間進行,算是小小的美中不足之處。
Starwood hotels ran a "double-take" promotion earlier this year offering double starpoints for every stays before July 31st. If the stay is booked through their moble SPG app, they even offer an additional 500 starpoints. So I took the chance and booked the Four Points to try out the "cheapest" Starwood property in Taiwan.
I had a later arrival at around 6 or 7 PM that day, and as I stepped in the lobby, I instantly felt really welcomed. The entrance is always staffed and they are more than happy to open the doors for you and greet you with a big smile. Check-in took a little longer than expected, probably due to the agent's lack of experience, which is the only setback at this moment.

飯店的公共設施並不多,一樓除了一個簡單的休憩區之外,就只有一間也不算大的商務中心。除此之外,還有一間健身房和三溫暖,但我並沒有特別去使用這些設施。
There's not much in the public area besides a small lounging area and a business center, which is also quite small. I learned there's also a gym and sauna but did not visit there during my stay.
通常 SPG 會員都會被安排入住 SPG 樓層(一般來說只是樓層比較高,景觀比較好而已)。這次我被安排升等一級入住豪華客房,一樣位在 SPG 樓層(11樓)。但在仔細研究過官網之後,發現精緻客房和豪華客房好像沒什麼差別,大概也就只是樓層差異而已(如果有誤請務必告知)。但這次在 SPG 樓層還有一個額外的驚喜,就是在公共區域會擺放免費的水果讓房客領取,而且是每天更新的。我入住當天是贈送香蕉,隔天早上就立刻換成蘋果了!
Usually SPG guests are arranged to stay on one of the SPG floors at Starwood properties (which often means higher floors and better views). For this stay I was upgraded to a Deluxe room on the SPG floor (11th floor). Although after checking out their website, I honestly couldn't tell the difference between a Superior room and a Deluxe room, so I suspect a Deluxe room means higher floors (please correct me if I'm wrong). What I do find surprising is that they offer complimentary fruit for all the guests staying on the SPG floor. Fruits are changed daily. They're offering bananas on the day of my arrival, and the next morning they changed them to apples.

一進門之後就會看到的是衣櫃空間和浴室。雖然衣櫃不算太寬敞,但我想對於一般短期的商務客應該還算夠用。其他倒也沒什麼特別值得一提的地方,所以看看照片就好。
Upon entering the room you'll find the closet space and bathroom. The closet isn't spacious but good enough for a short business stay I assume. Nothing to write home about here, so I'll just let the pictures do the talking.
對於這間浴室其實我是有點失望的。首先淋浴/浴缸空間真的很小,即便是一個人使用都稍嫌擁擠。另外乾濕分離也做得很差,即便用了浴簾,但因為浴簾內部根本不夠長,淋浴的時候水還是很容易就會濺到外面。
I have to say I was rather disappointed with this bathroom. First of all, the shower/bath area isn't all that spacious. I feel cramped even as a solo traveller. They also did a bad job with separatiing the bathtub and the rest of the bathroom area. There's water all over the place even after I used the shower curtain, because the "inside" part of it isn't not even long enough to hold the water.
接著就是一個非常簡單的 mini bar 。除了有免費茶/咖啡/礦泉水之外,也沒有什麼特別值得一提的。
Then there's a fairly simple mini bar. Nothing to say here except they have free tea/coffee/bottled water.
臥室本身其實相當舒適。床的大小算是不錯,還有算大的辦公桌,和一張非常舒服的躺椅可以休息。我可以想像對於一般商務客來說,這裡會是一個簡單又舒適的住宿點。躺椅區的 view 非常好,但有一個不知道目的為何的玻璃滑門,我到現在都還搞不清楚它的功用是什麼。
The bedroom itself was quite comfortable. They had a decent size bed, a fairly large desk, and a comfortable lounge chair. I can see how it'd be perfect for a business traveller looking for a simple place to stay. The lounging area had a really good view; but there was a weird glass sliding door that did not have any apparent function. I still can't figure out what it is supposed to do even until now.
不過客房內使用的配備都相當陳舊,讓我覺得有種活在上一個世紀的感覺。從空調的控制器、鬧鐘、電話都是如此。飯店真的應該考慮一下,準備升級或是更新一下客房了。
All the equipments in the room also made me feel like I stepped into a hotel room from the last century. Everything was really dated, from the A/C controls to the alarm clock and hotel phone.
我認為整間客房最大的缺點在於「軟體」上面。首先房內很多說明和文字都是使用簡體字,我想以一間在台灣的飯店,這樣的狀況是讓人無法接受的。即便這些可能是所有 SPG 飯店共同使用,但我想對於一個文化缺乏瞭解與尊重,也是同樣讓人無法接受。SPG 進駐台灣也不是這一兩年的事情,使用繁體字真的有那麼困難嗎?
另外對於小細節,也可以看出飯店在整理客房時容易疏忽之處。例如放在床邊的客房服務早餐卡,居然是已經被前一位房客使用過的!雖然說大概也沒有多少人會使用客房服務點早餐,但是給客人的感受就會很差。
What I consider to be the major setback is on the hotel's "soft product." First of all, I find many labels, cards, and descriptions in the room written in Simplified Chinese. This is unacceptable considering this is a hotel in Taiwan. Even though these items are probably shared by SPG properties and not the hotel's fault. I still find the lack of respect and understanding to local culture to be unacceptable. It's not like SPG is new to Taiwan or anything. Is it really that hard to use Traditional Chinese here?
I also found some details in the room reflecting the lack of attention during housekeeping. The breakfast room service order card left on my bedside was already used by my previous guest and was all marked already! I know that not too many people order room service for breakfast, but it's something like this that really kills the mood.
抱怨到這邊,也該講講好地方了。當天晚上我去了飯店的「紅餐廳」吃晚餐。「紅餐廳」現在推出中式料理無限單點的方案,每位 500+10% 就可以無限單點菜單上的餐點。每份餐點不止口味都相當不錯,而且分量也會做得比較小一些,這樣可以多試吃不同的菜色,各方面都讓人非常滿意。即便不入住飯店,也很推薦來「紅餐廳」用餐。
OK enough with all the complaining, and let's talk about something good. I had dinner at the hotel's "Red restaurant," which offered a all-you-can-eat, made to order Chinese food. I was free to order everything on the menu for $500+10% NTD. All the dishes tasted really good, and they made the portion of each dish smaller, so I had the opportunity to try out more dishes then I'd usually order. The meal was quite satisfactory in every prospect. I highly recommend eating here even when you're not staying in this hotel.
對於福朋喜來登,我個人的評價真的不高,也認為有很多地方值得改善。未來除非有很好的促銷活動或是特價,大概也不會再來入住。不過對於「紅餐廳」倒是非常推薦的!
The Four Points here did not meet my expectations as there were many places that could be improved. I would not return unless there's a really good sale or promotion. However, I do highly recommend the "Red restaurant"!
